Today’s Helpful Housewife Hint:

When preparing your maple glaze, warm the maple syrup slightly before mixing it with the powdered sugar.

This makes it easier to achieve a smooth and lump-free consistency. You can do this by microwaving the maple syrup for about 10-15 seconds or gently heating it in a saucepan.

Just be careful not to overheat it, as you don't want to cook off the maple flavor.

How do you apply glaze?

Drizzling Method:

For most desserts and breakfast items, you can drizzle maple glaze over the top.

You can use a spoon, a fork, or a squeeze bottle with a narrow tip for more control.

  1. Brushing Method:

    • For larger items, like a ham or salmon, you can use a pastry brush to evenly coat the surface with maple glaze. Brush on a generous layer for a glossy finish.

  2. Dipping Method:

    • When it comes to cookies or donuts, you can dip them directly into the maple glaze. Hold the item with a fork and dip it into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off.

  3. Use as a Frosting:

    • If you're topping a cake or cupcakes, you can spread the maple glaze evenly over the surface using a spatula or the back of a spoon. Allow it to set before serving
