The green bean casserole, an iconic side dish often associated with holiday gatherings, has its origins traced back to the 1950s.

Created by Dorcas Reilly, a home economist working for the Campbell Soup Company, the recipe was initially developed as a way to promote the company's condensed cream of mushroom soup.

Reilly's goal was to craft a simple and quick-to-prepare dish that utilized pantry staples, and thus, the green bean casserole was born.

The dish's enduring appeal lies in its convenience, comforting flavors, and nostalgic association with holiday traditions.

While variations and modern updates to the recipe have emerged, the green bean casserole remains a cherished part of many festive meals, showcasing the enduring influence of this mid-century culinary creation.
