Repurposed Coca Cola Crate

An easy rustic inspo idea for a cute DIY Repurposed Coca Cola crate. Made from an old pop bottle crate that can be a flower or herb garden box.

If you have some old crates or you've seen them at an antique store or flea market the ones in rough shape can easily be taken apart and reassembled as a cute rustic flower box using paint stirs and a little coffee!

Shopping List

Supplies Needed

  • Vintage wooden crate

  • Small nails

  • Coffee, tea or stain

  • Rag or paper towel

  • 12 inch paint stirs sticks

  • Glue gun

  • Crystal clear polycrylic and small brush

  • Plants and pop bottles of your choice

Start with disassembling your wooden crate, leaving only the sides with the handles.

Then decide how many paint stir sticks you will need for the bottom and sides. You can spread out the sticks or have them next to one another.

Once you decide on how many sticks are needed for your particular box, use cold coffee take a rag dip in the cold coffee and stain your sticks then let dry.

By using the wood stir sticks and staining them with cold coffee, I was able to get them to a color closer to the wooden crate color.

Using a glue gun assemble your wood box and glue your wooden stir sticks and box together.

Once assembled and glued using 5/8 inch nails tack down the paint stirs to box especially the bottom.

Lastly, use a crystal clear polycrylic to protect the wood.

the polycrylic will darken the wood a bit
