Holiday Peppermint Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 6 Cups Plain popped popcorn

  • 8 Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares

  • 1/2 Cup Semi sweet chocolate chips

  • 1-2 Cups Mint M&Ms

  • 1 Tablespoon red and white peppermint sugar sprinkles

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels to a large pot with a lid.

  2. Put 2 tablespoons of oil into the pot, then cover the pot with the lid.

  3. Heat the pot over medium-high heat and shake the pot around occasionally until the popping slows down.

  4. Once the popping has stopped, remove the pot from the heat and pour the popcorn into a bowl.

  5. Using the double boiler method place a pot of water (use 2 inches of water) on a stove burner and turn the heat to high.

  6. Place a heat safe glass bowl on top of the pot, making sure that the bowl does not touch the bottom of the larger pot.

  7. Allow the heat to slowly build up in the large pot, creating a warm environment that will heat the bowl.

  8. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low.

  9. Using your heat-safe bowl or double boiler insert place the peppermint bark into the bowl or insert.

  10. Stir the ingredients occasionally, until they are completely melted.

  11. When finished, remove the bowl or insert from the heat and place it on a heat-safe surface.

  12. Next, lay parchment paper out on a large baking pan and spread popcorn across the entire baking pan.

  13. Drizzle melted peppermint bark squares over popcorn. Make sure to use a spoon to drizzle the melted peppermint bark around evenly.

  14. Melt chocolate chips in the same bowl as the peppermint bark and again drizzle over popcorn.

  15. Sprinkle with peppermint sprinkles you can also add other toppings such as Mint M&Ms or crushed candy canes.

  16. Set baking sheet in the refrigerator for a minimum of 15 minutes.

  17. Remove break apart and serve.

Enjoy!

Store any leftovers in airtight container.

Use 1-2 cups of candy topping depending on how sweet you want your popcorn.

You can also melt peppermint bark and chocolate chips in a microwave using short bursts.
